We’re excited to announce the return of a customer favourite, OREAS 277, now reissued as OREAS 277b, one of seven new Carlin gold ore Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) just added to our range.
At 3 ppm Au, OREAS 277b represents a typical cut-off grade for mining operations, making it an essential reference for gold assay quality control.
This CRM is a double-refractory gold ore, with mineralization intimately associated with carbon (2.4%) and sulphur (1.1%). Its complex composition makes OREAS 277b ideal for laboratories, explorers, and grade control geologists seeking a robust, well-characterised material that truly tests fire assay performance under realistic conditions.
With OREAS 277b, users can calibrate and validate analytical workflows across the full range of refractory gold grades, improving QA/QC confidence and ensuring consistent results in low- to mid-grade assays.

World-First: OREAS CRMs Now Certified by Bismuth Fire Assay
We’re proud to announce that OREAS CRMs are now offered with certification by the innovative Bismuth Collection Fire Assay technique, with more details to be shared in the coming weeks.
Coming Soon: OREAS 470–474 Clay-Hosted REE CRM Series
Next in line is the OREAS 470 – 474 series, five new clay-hosted rare earth element (REE) CRMs designed to advance analytical accuracy in one of the world’s fastest-growing resource sectors.
Developed from a blend of kaolin, REE-enriched ultra-fine milled products, siltstone, and high-purity silica, the series replicates the mineralogy of ionic-adsorption clays found in critical REE deposits. These materials are tailored to support calibration and quality control of geochemical methods targeting total rare-earth and yttrium oxides (TRYEO).
As part of the Critica Jupiter – Clay-hosted REE CRM suite, OREAS 470 – 474 will help laboratories and explorers enhance precision and comparability of analyses across lateritic and weathered REE-bearing systems.
Each CRM in the series has been comprehensively characterized for REEs using the following analytical methods:
