Gold and Antimony: Supporting Accuracy in Critical Metals

New OREAS CRMs for Gold and Antimony: Supporting Accuracy in Critical Metals

We’re pleased to announce the release of our latest Certified Reference Materials (CRMs), developed specifically for gold-antimony and gold mineralisation styles. These CRMs give laboratories and operations the reliable quality control benchmarks needed to deliver accurate, trusted assay data.

Gold remains one of the world’s most important metals, not only as a foundation of global finance and investment but also as a key material in electronics, medical devices and space technologies. Its unmatched conductivity, durability, and corrosion resistance make it indispensable in high-performance applications.

Antimony, in contrast, is officially recognised as a critical mineral by the US, EU and Australia. Its supply chain is heavily concentrated, creating vulnerability, while demand continues to grow. Antimony is essential for flame retardants, advanced alloys, semiconductors and energy storage systems, making it a strategic enabler for modern infrastructure, defence and renewable technologies.

Product Spotlight:

OREAS 249 is a Gold-Antimony Concentrate CRM specifically designed for laboratories working with high-grade gold-antimony (Au-Sb).

OREAS 249 was prepared from a blend of high-grade gold-antimony ore, barren metasediments and Sb-Au concentrate. The ore and concentrate were sourced from the Costerfield Operation (Mandalay Resources Ltd) in Victoria.

Costerfield Mineralisation: Gold-antimony mineralisation is hosted in Lower Silurian metasedimentary rocks and is characterised by narrow, high-grade quartz-stibnite veins. Gold occurs with arsenopyrite and pyrite, as well as in “gold-only” quartz-carbonate veins at depth or beneath stibnite lodes.

By closely reflecting the mineralogy and chemistry of real-world ores, OREAS 249 provides laboratories with a reliable standard to ensure precision and accuracy in their analytical workflows.
