Sample Collection
Samples are collected, preserved and handled under the applicable SW‑846 preparation method and project requirements. Dissolved fractions are filtered; solids, sludges and wastes are collected for digestion or extraction.
Overview of "Inductively Coupled Plasma–Optical Emission Spectrometry"
US EPA Method 6010 describes multielement determinations by ICP‑OES using sequential or simultaneous optical systems and axial or radial plasma viewing. Used for aqueous samples and waste extracts/digests, with requirements for calibration, interferences, linear range, detection limits and QC.
Samples are collected, preserved and handled under the applicable SW‑846 preparation method and project requirements. Dissolved fractions are filtered; solids, sludges and wastes are collected for digestion or extraction.
Aqueous, soil, sludge and waste samples are prepared using the appropriate acid digestion or extraction procedure before ICP‑OES; digestates are diluted to volume and clarified as needed.
Prepared samples are introduced to ICP‑OES with calibration standards, blanks, interference correction, QC verification and instrument performance checks.
Our advanced comparison tool allows you to evaluate two analytical methods side-by-side. Compare sample preparation requirements, instrumentation needs, detection limits, and workflow timelines to choose the optimal method for your laboratory.
