Overview of "Inductively Coupled Plasma–Optical Emission Spectrometry"
US EPA Method 6010 describes multielement determinations by ICP‑OES using sequential or simultaneous optical systems and axial or radial plasma viewing. Used for aqueous samples and waste extracts/digests, with requirements for calibration, interferences, linear range, detection limits and QC.
End-to-End Analytical Process
Sample Preparation
Aqueous, soil, sludge and waste samples are prepared using the appropriate acid digestion or extraction procedure before ICP‑OES; digestates are diluted to volume and clarified as needed.
Analysis & Maintenance
Prepared samples are introduced to ICP‑OES with calibration standards, blanks, interference correction, QC verification and instrument performance checks.
